Nascar Hear on Windows Vista

I cannot intall or run Nascar Heat on Vista. When I click play, which also
installs the game, the screen goes black and then a blue screen (which says
at the top that Windows is shutting down to prevent damage to your computer)
and then my system crashes. I have downloaded the DirectX 9, but this hasn't
solved the problem. Can anyone help.
Thanks

What you can do is to find the installer program in the Nascar cd and right
click on it. Then select run as maybe? It might give you the ability to run
as the admin. you probably are logged in Vista as admin, but it I think is
something slightly different. Try that. Also try to run the installer in
compatibility mode if possible. There should be in the right click menu a
way to tell it to run like windows xp or 2000 or something. Try xp and then
previous versions if needed.

Also Vista has DirectX 9 or later installed by default. I don't know if it
is DirectX 9 or 10 though, but it is built in. So trying to install from the
downloaded file of DirectX won't work probably because Vista may tell you
that it already is there.

Does it run OK on WinXP or some prior Windows version? Then right-click on
your Nascar program and choose "properties" from the context menu. Choose the
compatability tab from the pop-up box, check the box and pick a Windows
version from the drop-down box. If that doesn't work, try right-clicking on
the program and choose "run as administrator."

Contact the manufacturer of the game to obtain the patches/upgrade
necessary to make the game Vista-compatible.

No, it could only make things worse (or, at best, it wouldn't have
installed), as Vista comes with DirectX 10 built-in.
