Name Change

J

Joe

Another question from the oldie brigade.

One of our people has had Windows XP Pro installed, but when the
installation was done her name was spelt incorrectly and it's annoying her.
Can someone tell me the process for changing her name please.

She is elderly and lives in the country so it is a bit inconvenient to get
the shop to do it for her.

TIA

Hi,

Where is her name misspelled?

If in the system properties, go to www.dougknox.com and under WinXP
utilities download and run the script to change the registered owner.

If it's the user account name, this can be changed from the control
panel/users. This will change the user name, but not the user's folder name.

Thanks Rick, apparently it is everywhere in the computer where he name is
used, but she wasn't very specific on that.

Joe,
I would take both actions Rick suggested since if the installer spelled it
wrong one place, it is probably wrong everywhere else it was used.

Thanks Gene, yes that would seem the most logical thing to do.

Appreciation to you and Rick
