Is there anyway I can change the name of a windows system folder? In My C:
drive, documents and settings it has a name that I do not want but when I
click to change it I get an error message.

Short answer: No, you cannot.

Long answer: Provide some more information and you might get a
workable solution. For instance, what folder are you trying to
rename? What are you trying to change it to?

If you wanted to rename C:\Documents and Settings\OldUserName
and have it be C:\Documents and Settings\NewUserName you would
need to create a new user account and copy the old user
account's profile into the new account. You have to be logged
on to the computer with a third account that is a Computer
Adminstrator. The built-in Adminstrator account is your best
option.

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been.
So, your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in
Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username
desired. You can then delete the old user account(s).

As others said, this is not a straight-forward task. You may create a new
account and then copy the existing user profile so that the new profile is
exactly a duplicate of the present user profile. For more information, see

Other option is to change the ProfileImagePath registry value and make it
point to a new folder. For more information on this method, see section "To
