Mystery photo in cache

Hello,

I have a photo that seems to have taken on a life form of its own in my
Windows 2000 PC, and I can't get rid of it. I have deleted all instances of
the file that I can possibly find (it was a jpg file), I've deleted all known
temporary files, I've done a search for all picture files and cannot find it.
The problem is, when I boot up my machine, after the DOS bootup and before
the desktop appears, this photo appears on the full screen as wallpaper for
about 5-10 seconds before the desktop appears. I used to have this photo as
wallpaper some time ago. How can I get it to stop appearing? A friend
suggested changing my profile (?), but really I'd rather just find out how
this photo keeps appearing and deal with the situation directly. Any ideas??

Many thanks

Hi there,
I had this very same problem with my XP machine about a year ago. Turns out a virus had very cleverly atached itself to one of my jpg's. This could be the same thing. Check the task mgr and see if the jpg is running as an application. If it is - its a real pain to get rid of. Try sticking it into your virus vault, see if that does the trick.
