Mysterious words appear

When in excel my computer will start filling in the
current cell with random words, I have run a virus check,
and all is okay. What is causing this?

Haven't come across this one before. If you go back to the
cell with the random words in it, is there a formula
present in the background? Have you checked to see if
there are any rogue macros running in the background?

These would be the first things I would have a look at.

Doug,
Make sure you have your voice recognition software turned off. Sometimes that will cause input from an open mic to be entered into your data sheet.

One of the computers at my work just started inserting random a word in
each cell of any new spreadsheet. We watched this for several minutes
before ending the program, and this bug filled several hundred cells in
that time. We are using Excel 2003. We checked the computer with
Symantec Anti-Virus 10, Microsoft Anti-Spy ware Beta, Spybot search &
destroy, and Adaware. There were no detected threats. We do not use
Voice recognition software, or have macros running. Has anyone else
experienced this, or is there anyone who might have a solution to fix
it?

It probably has voice recognition activated.
