Mysterious Tool bar attchement

A banner toolbar has mysteriously attached itself to my
MSIE header. It says Mirar WebBand. Does anyone know how
to uninstall or otherwise remove it?

Same complaint.

I used Spybot S&D, and it has a number of toolbars listed, including Hotbar,
but it doesn't recognized "mirar". Trendmicro doesn't have it listed.
Maybe it is too new. Rightclicking to uncheck or remove the toolbar lists
other toolbars, but not mirar. It lists "Mirar WebBand " as a separate
element, not as a toolbar. Mirar does not have an interactive element, and
View/Source does not indicate that the IE browser is in any way calling up
the malware from the web.
I have removed every image and every unknown cookie in my TIF, and haven't
found its .gif. (The "toolbar" or frame is a logo and a text message that
acts like a two-frame .gif file. When IE opens, the logo and message are
centered, but in about .5 seconds, the message changes and both it and the
logo are right-aligned.
The first message is "Thank you for choosing our product", and the second
one is : "cutting edge features coming soon".

Then the message just stays there. The band is the width of the IE window,
and about the depth of the regular toolbar, which is just above it in my
browser. I tried Netscape, but it hasn't affected that yet.

PA Bear in another thread referred people to the above site. I had also
gotten the Mirar WebBand, but it is gone, now, along with remnants of other
malware (gator, again, seekseek, etc.)

The spywareinfo site recommends you download and use Hijack This! and, after
checking your files in Spybot (up-to-date), scan with Hijack This , and then
post the log of the HiJack This scan. Buttons do it all, except for
copy/paste into Notepad for posting in the forum. Then a while later, a
member gives a few simple instructions and tells you to have HiJack This!
fix some checked lines in the log.

Worked like a charm. Please use that forum. While Spybot is a 2+Mb file,
HiJack This.exe is only 155KB.

Good luck.
