mysterious increase in disk space usage

I had thought about moving some stuff to other partitions/drives. But
for most programs it means an uninstall/reinstall.

Moving folders is an interesting idea. In particular, if I move My
Documents, are all the programs that store their data there notified
or do I have to individually change each program? You seem to imply
the latter in your discussion.

Changing the Default File locations has only to be done once for each
programme so it is no big deal.
