I took my laptop (XPpro SPII) to work the other day & plugged it into the
Network there.
! Big mistake!

Now my Boss can see that I too have a Business at home, Not Acceptable!

By merely going to My Network Places/Entire Network/Microsoft Windows
Network/"He sees My Company's Name".

I must remove the Icon/Folder/Share that represents My Company located in
Microsoft Windows Network which is visible from any of his Computers on that
LAN.
He has a Win2000 Client/Server Type network at his Company.

Question #1:
Is there a way to flush the Cache of Network Location's
or specifically the one I am concerned with?
As it is has my last name in that company's name, and it is so obvious it is
my company due to such an Uncommon name.
i.e. :( Hoobastank Financial)

Question #2:
If I rename My workgroup on My laptop over to some
name that is totally unlike my name & then take My laptop back to his company
& plug it in to his LAN / Domain , will it overwrite (Hoobastank Financial)
with the new Workgroup name I have created ?

Please help the clock is ticking

PS: All names are fictitious!!

The only way to get "rid" of the workgroup name you don't want him to see is
to shut down and restart all computers on the network at the same time, or
wait a while and the workgroup name will vanish on its own as long as you
don't re-introduce the foreign computer again.

Man I thank you for your prompt reply Richard you dont know how worried I am
rite now, but I do have 1 more question.
Me & My Sister want to know how long it might take for the workgroup to
Vanish?
And one other thing ;

This network at his Buissnes where my "Ghost Share" as I have come to call
it is being seen, well it consists of 2 location's .

What I meen is there is a branch in Washington & another in Boston & the
shares or network locations are all visable from one another I beleive .

The reason I say that is because when I go to map a drive or when I search
for computersin the My Network places I can see the ones in Boston.

So when you say to turn all PC's on the LAN , that would need to be the ones
over ther too, huh?
Thank you for your professional insight

"Cached"
Please tell me if this Theroy is correct?
If no one on the Boston end of the Domain ever opened the My Network Places
while I had my Laptop connected, then My Ghost Share/Location could not be
visable from that end ,as it had never been cached.
In other words it's not in thier cached memory.

Not quite. If the workgroup name made it to a browse master list holder
then it's been recorded on the system.
