My vista recently can't donwload attached doc/docx files from emai

My vista recently can't donwload attached doc/docx files from email. When I
either choose "save" or "open" file, then the download file pop up window
stays there doing nothing. I don't have problem to download other attachment
files like pdf, jpec, ppt etc. Any idea?
