Well, I thought I'd troll the newsgroup today. I'm not a big MS supporter,
but I'm definately not a linux supporter (so i guess that makes me an MS
supporter doesn't it alias?).
Anyway, I thought I'd share my opinion on why linux is fighting an up-hill
battle. Recently, you may have read (thats if idiot tibirius hasn't posted
it yet) news about the new microsoft surface.
Now, what I like about ms, is they spend money on ideas that have a lot of
potential, even if the probability of success isn't very high. They also
seem to spend money on technology research, another thing linux doesn't seem
to do. And if they do, we hardly hear about it. All linux does is re-invent
the wheel, with the tyre brand unix.
But hold on, there is one thing that annoys me about windows (which windows
server 2008 fixes to an extent), and thats cutting our ability to only
install components that we want to use. Linux does give us that option
(which I praise). MacOSX, like windows, does not give us the option.
You could argue that apple and ms make thier OS like that for simplicity.
Not everyone is like us and know what we are doing. By taking away the
ability to do something, simplifies things quite a bit. If that
functionality comes to windows, non-anti-ms linux users will come back.
Btw linux users, I haven't seen microsoft take over the world yet. I know
some of you out there think that is their goal.
Now that I've said my 2 cents, I await a barrage of posts to disagree/agree
with me.
Have fun all I might post back to some of you. But we all know that I'm
flamming here. I'm just about to find out how many linux trolls are under
the bridge. God only knows why you guys are in a microsoft newsgroup. But
then again, I think we all know that too (you guys have no life.. you heard
me!).
Oh yea, Ubuntu is just an eye candy linux distro. I actually like suse and
fedora more. *waits for an alias attack*
