my sound card isn't working?

There is no sound coming from my speakers and I think that
my sound card is not working. I have checked the speakers
on another computer. I am not sure when this happened
because I have used these speakers with this exact same
hardware setup in the past.

This exact same problem just happened to me. I was playing
an MP3, stopped it, started playing another one, and I have
no sound! I've tried to reboot and I still get nada! Is
this something viral?
