my son deleted word and works from my computer how can i retrieve

bought it i had service pack 1 and know it is gone what
do i do to retrieve it????:

If you have the CDs you can reload the programs and download the SP1 from
microsofts web site. If you don't have the CD your kind of SOL.

Did you install either of these?

If you think that Windows XP includes WOrd or Works, sorry to
tell you that you're mistaken. Neither it, nor any other version
of Windows, has ever included either of these or any significant
other application software. Such programs have to be bought.

How do you know you had it? How do you know it's gone?
Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties. On the
Properties screen, what does it say under System?

put sign on computer: do not delete anything or make any
changes. my son keeps changing the toolbars and other

Service Pack 1 doesn't have anything to do with Word or Works. If you
did in fact have Word and/or Works installed and working, most likely
your son just deleted the shortcut. Deleting (more properly,
uninstalling) an application is hard to do by accident; deleting a
shortcut by accident is easy. Did you look in Start > All Programs?
