my printer won't print until I reboot

Someone else had asked this I think, but I didn't see an answer... and I am
really bad with this sorta stuff.
Whenever I try to print off something (from word, the internet, whatever)
the document goes into the list of what is printing and says it's printing
but it isn't; at first I thought that maybe it was just taking it's time and
whatever, but I could let it sit all day and it won't print. When I try to
cancel the document it stays on the list. I end up rebooting my laptop, and
once I am signed in and all the document prints off.

Is there anyway I can fix this?

I am using a Dell inspiron and Dell Photo 926 printer.

Here is the solution for your issue:

1.Click Start, and right-click My Computer.
2.Click Properties, then click Hardware.
3.Click Device Manager.
4.Double-click the Universal Serial Bus Controllers branch to expand it.
5.Right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.
6.Click Power Management.
7.De-select the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
check box.
Note: If the Root Hub is listed twice in the Device Manger, perform the
steps 5 to 7 on the second entry.

8.Click OK, and close Device Manager.

Please let me know if the above solution does not work. I would be glad to
help you further..

Regards,

Prakash.

I had a simliar problem and tried the solution you recommend but it does not
work. I have 2 USB printers attached to my desktop and 2 other laptops on
the home network. I share both printers on the desktop. When I print to
either from laptop #1 everything works fine. When I print to the HP
Photosmart 8250 from laptop #2 everything works fine. But when I printer to
the HP1020 from laptop #2 I get the problem where the file cannot be deleted
from either the desktop or the laptop and the file only prints when I reboot
the system. I did notice that when I print to the 8250 from laptop #2 the
Owner is listed as XXXXX (my user name on the system) but when I print to the
1020 the Owner is listed as Home. When I print to either printer from laptop
#1 the Owner shows as Guest.
