My Places problems

Guest

WinXP and Word 2002. I've successfully added and removed items from the "My
Places" bar according to MS Knowledge Base Article 282087. However, when I
try to rearrange items and right-click on an item according to the
instructions, the "move up" and "move down" choices are grayed. How do I
make them available so I can rearrange items in "My Places."

Also, "My Network Places" is the only item in "My Places" that I don't want,
but it doesn't appear in the registry to move. Can I get it out of there, or
do I have to have at least one default item there?

Thanks.

It is not necessary to use the Registry to modify the Places Bar in Word
2002. See http://www.gmayor.dsl.pipex.com/customize_the_word_places_bar.htm.
The default entries may be removed only by using the Registry, but I believe
doing that disables the ability to use the built-in modification method.
Instead of trying to get rid of the built-in entries, change to small icons
and make the dialog larger. Bump all the unwanted buttons up to the top and
ignore them. You'll still have room for plenty of buttons of your own.
