Table problem

I have a table that I have inserted into a word document (I originally
thought it was an excel spreadsheet, we are using this a a business form to
place a construction company estimate into.

When we type on the line for 1 item, my spouse likes to use this format of
1- and then the space bar, it moves the entire line over to the first tab,
which is not acceptable. How can I get it to stop moving the tab?

Not a Tables thing, but a general thing. You have the option to do
indenting etc. via tabs turned on, but you need to say what version of
Word you're using for us to tell you where to go to turn it off.

Meanwhile, Ctrl-Z will undo it.

Office Button | Word Options | Proofing | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat
As You Type: "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces."
