My Pictures Folder won't display on Start Menu (Right Side)

I can't get my My Pictures folder to display on my start
menu with My Documents or My Music folders. I have it
selected to show as a link in the start menu
customization options, but it won't show. I know it's a
minor annoyance, but I'm a perfectionist and want to fix
it. Thanks

Hi ZL,

Are you sure the My Pictures option appears in Start Menu customization dialog? Asking this because this is the only setting which I'm aware of: http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/976/ (This also removes the show my pictures option in the customization dialog)

Yeah, it's there, I'm running XP Pro and I have options
to show/hide it along with My Documents, Music Computer,
Control Panel, etc.. It is with a set of radio buttons
that let you chose Display as link, menu of don't display.

I do have TweakUI installed... don't know if that matters.

When I tried twice or thrice with NoSMMyPictures restrictions enabled. (Restarted explorer.exe) the "My Pictures" option in the "Customize Start Menu" vanished.

Check what is listed here and the paths:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

Um, yeah, but it's not showing up when I set it too. Can
you help?

(User Shell Folders - Good point there)

Hmm. Just noticed that redirecting the My Pictures to a folder (which is non-existent currently) removed it from Start Menu.

You rock, that was it. I had a drive die on me where I
had My Documents directed. I thought I was able te get
everything re-directed to it's current location, but I
guess not. For some reason the My Pictures folder wasn't
appearing as an option in TweakUI. When I looked at the
regestry settings you listed here one was blank and the
other had the old setting listed. After putting the
correct data in there it reappeared! I only wish I knew
more about the registry.

Thanks!

Great, glad to hear you have it worked out and you are most welcome. As for
the registry, watch out once you get interested in there, there is no
turning back. It can become addicting.)
