My Pictures Disappeared

After leaving my PC and returning about an hour later I
discovered that my wallpaper was missing. On further
investigation I discovered all the folders under E:\my
documents\my pictures had gone and on searching for them
they showed up as internet shortcuts in My Compter! Can I
recover my images? 2.5 GB of photo's have disappeared from
existance......Please help..... I am running XP Pro.

It's hard to say if you can recover the images
until you discover how they were deleted.

Did you check your recycle bin?

Maybe somehow they were just moved to
a different folder. If you search for *.jpg do
you find any images?

Did the extensions of the images change?

When you left the machine...were any programs
supposed to be running? Were you connected
to the internet?

Have you tried running a full system virus scan
with the most current definitions?
