Hi everyone,My pc returns this message when I try playing audio/video cd's
with the cd rom,SDPON "component mswinsck.ocx is not correctly registered or
one of its dependepencies is missing or invalid", after self rebooting.I
tried restoring the pc to an earlier date, tried defragmenting and as a last
resort,I de-insalled all the newly installed programs. Some help me
please,can't use my ROM anymore!!

Try this.
Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM
drives, right click on the offending drive, Click Uninstall.

Close everything, reboot & see if it is Ok.

Thanx a lot Jmatt, here's a thing, just when I was about to uninstall the
offending drive,I noticed that when I open these cd's with media player 11
there are no reboots. But when I try ripping with the same player, then it
reboots.I also have REALPLAYER installed but with it,my pc reboots right
away..Would you still recommend that I uninstall my offending drive?

Would you still recommend that I uninstall my offending drive?

Sure, it will reinstall itself anyway, may ask for the XP cd.

Thanx again Jmatt,well..I uninstalled the troublesome drive as you'd advised
but the problem is still there. If you don't mind me asking, what is the
mswinsck.ocx component? B'cause that's the part that seems missing or
invalid, according to the computer info that's shown after reboot. thanx
