old cd roms wont open...

my old cd roms full of pics and short videos wont open on my pc as it registers as a blank disk but will open a nd play on a friends..any help appreciated....both run xp home

Do you have different type drives?

Maybe its a CD-RW?
Which may not read on all drives.

If you can read on a friend's PC, why not copy it thru his -
thru a LAN, or a new CD-R perhaps...

Was the CD prepared with packet writing software {such as Direct CD}? If
so, Windows XP does not support the format without additional software.
When you open on your friends computer and then close the CD, do you have an
option to close so that the CD can be read on any computer? If so, choose
that option.
