My PC believes that all new DVD RW are full

When I put a new DVD disc into my HP300 external writer, Explorer believes it
to be a full. This means that my video editing packages refuse to write to
the disc because they also think it is full

Any ideas?

Did you try formatting the DVD R/W's before using them??

Rick - I know longer get the option of formatting these DVD's. When I go
into "properties" for the disc that option no longer comes up. Its as though
the pc thinks its a CD or something.....

The one thing which has also disappeared is DLA - which I prviously had on
the machine. I'm not sure if that is related or not.....?

Any ideas?
