Hello. I hvae a HP ze5300 with 768 RAM and 60GB running on WinXP Home
SP2. The laptop runs fine but... it won't recognize usb speaker when I
plug them in. Iv'e tried 2 different type of speakers (logiteechs V2o
and Creative TRavelSound Notebook 500) and neither worked.
Speciifically, I would get a small yellow popup window saying the usb
device is not recognized , clikc for help. Then a usb root propoerties
window would come up listing device status : reconnet the device. i
would do that, and the same process would occur. I unisntalled all usb
devices in device manager, rebooted, and still got the same result. My
mouse and printer workfine via usb.

i have a flash memeory card that doesn't work via usb too, but the
speakers are more important to me. ;^)

thanks for your help. Is there any way out of this> Imena i would
really liek to stick to sub speakers since I travel alot withthe
laptop.

You may have to install specialized drivers for the USB speakers. Check your
install CD that came with them.

There was no install CD for these speakers. They are plug and play. The
speakers are supposed to use drivers within Windows. What version of
Windows, I'd have to guess WinXP, since the logitechs debut was in Sept
2005.

Go to your sound settings and make sure the speakers are chosen as the
output device.

Done. Except the usb speakers are never available as an output device.
I have 2 options: "Conexant Audio" (my default laptop speakers) and "#
1 line modem" (or something like that). Either option I try does not
get sound from the speakers.

In fact, when I tried the Creative speakers, the computer did not
acknowledge with its usual 'ding-ding' as it does for all other usb
connections when a usb plugs in or out.

I'm befuddled.

Thanks for your help.

Is there a sound utility specifically for the Conexant audio? That is
where I would expect to be able to configure the sound for USB. There
is really nothing that instructs the OS to use USB for sound so
something related to the sound card will have to do that.
