My MS Comfort 2000 Keyboard isn't working ...

Hello everyone,

Windows XP 32bit, SP2, IBM Thinkpad T42

When the laptop boots up, I can use the keyboard to select the boot option
(that is normal booting or recovery console). The keyboard also works in
recovery mode - no issues.

However when I boot normally it stops working. It is detected but Windows
always asks for a driver - which so far I am yet to find.

So any idea ?

Thank you in advance.

Any idea here folks ? Maybe faulty keyboard ?

I mean it should be basic, right ? In the end it's only a bloody
keyboard ...

Thanks and regards,

Have you verified the port on the computer, with
some other device ?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the reply. The port is fine, used for mouse, USB memory
stick, etc.

Also, if the port would be broken, it wouldn't work in "DOS mode" right
? I mean the keyboard works fine if I boot into Recovery mode ...

So it's a Windows XP problem. Now why is Windows asking for a driver for
that keyboard ? Is there a driver somewhere cuz I couldn't find one ?

How a Microsoft keyboard cannot get together with Microsoft Windows ...
is beyond my comprehension. And it's a keyboard (!!!), it really should
be PnP !

Perhaps a dumb question, but did you install the software that came with
the MS Comfort keyboard?
