My monitor stays black. Please help!

I right clicked on desktop, then clicked properties, settings, advanced,
adapter, properties, on bottom of page it says device usage, I clicked
disable this device. Now my computer boots up and makes the normal intro
sound but the monitor goes black right when the Welcome screen on XP should
appear. How can I fix this problem to where the monitor will work properly
again. Is there any way to enable the device I changed (I think the video
card) without being able to see anything? Any help would be appreciated more
than I can say.

Boot into safemode and uninstall, then reinstall your video drivers.Restart
and see if that helps.

When I boot into safe mode, the screen still stays black. And VGA mode. Why
is it doing this? Why can't I reboot and see anything in safe mode? I have
even hooked up and external monitor and that is black too. Any other advice?
I'd really appreciate it.

1. Stop doing things on your computer when you are not certain of what the
consequences will be.

2. Perform a repair/install of the operating system using the Windows XP
retail CD equivalent to the version of the O/S you have installed on your
computer.

It is rediculous that there was never a warning screen before this happened
warning me of the consequences. Is there any way to restore my laptop
without losing all my info?

I figured it out. I used the keyboard to go to system restore and I restored
it back to a few days ago when it was working. Yay!

I've got the same problem. PC boots fine but the display disappears once
Windows is fully loaded and i can't get it back. Safe mode does the same
thing. Tried pressing F8 during reboot to get a command prompt but it
freezes and says "OS missing", which really doesn't seem good but makes no
sense seeing as it will still load windows ok, if invisibly.

I've figured out how to get to the system restore menu via keyboard
shortcuts but does anyone know how to navigate through the system restore
menus when you can't see them? How many times do i need to tab and are the
default confirmations "Cancel" or "ok"?

Any help much appreciated.
