my mic wont pick up my voice

hi my mic is not picking up on my speech which means i
cannot use it to chat any sugesstions how to fix it?
would it be anything to do with windows speech recognition
 
gattor u no help for me ?? this is what u left for me =
among a number of other possibilities..,
 
Pay no attention to this FLID. He is a complete waste of space and internet
usage.
