my internet explorer doesn't respond

HI I hope there's someone who can help me. Recently my
internet explorer6 does not responds anymore. When I try to
return to the previous page by pressing the backspace key,
it does not return to the previous page. Also, when I click
the close button to close the explorer, it does not close
the window. What can be using this problem?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
