First, what I did I entered a program file I wanted to open in the Run on the
start menu. I misspelled a word in that file then after hitting OK did I
found I'd misspelled the file.
Now,if I go to the Run I find that if I type in afile close to it in
spelling it's still there.
How do I delete/remove it ?

Simply type the new file name. You don't even need to
erase the old file name - it disappears the moment you
start typing.

Try deleting the entry you made in the registry.

Start>run and type

regedit

navigate to the following key

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

In the right hand pane, select the entry you want to delete.
