MY ENTIRE SYSTEM ABRUPTLY SHUTS DOWN

my system abruptly shuts down with no warning or error message whenever I run
any type of media editing or conversion program(s), such as windows media
player, windows movie maker, ImToo dvd to ipod Mpeg4 converter, especially in
"rip" mode. also running windows disk clean up sometimes causes this action.
All programs will run from between 1% to 25% completion, then the sys just
abruptly shuts down.

Also when working in OutLook Express I cannot click a link to access the
connected web page, its like OE is not connected to IE from the OutLook
Express window, it did work at one time, this is also true at onetime. IE has
also dissappered from the Start Columb on the left when you click start.

PLEASE!!!!!!!!! IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE!!!!!!!!
CAN YOU HELP!!!!!!!!! IF YOU ARE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

These are all memory-intensive activities. Have you tested your
computer's RAM? You might try MemTest86: http://www.memtest86.com/
It's free.

Then you can download and use the hard drive maufacturer's diagnostic
utility to test the hard drive. If both RAM and hard drive test out
clean, check with the motherboard manufacturer for any diagnostic
utilities, particularly ones that target the CPU.

Abrupt shutdowns can also be caused by over-heating components. Make
sure that all of the computer's cooling fans are working properly, that
the interior of the computer is dust-free, and that the computer case's
airways are all free of obstructions. Be aware, however, that if this
problem has been going on for several weeks, the over-heating may have
permanently damaged something, and hardware replacement may still be
necessary after fixing any cooling problems. RAM and motherboard
chipsets are particularly vulnerable to thermal damage.

You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after
you click a link

Hyperlinks in an e-mail message do not work in Outlook 2000 or in

Please unstick your CapsLock key. Posting in all caps, as you have
done, is the Usenet equivalent of shouting, and is considered very rude
by a large number of people. More importantly, posting in all caps
makes the post harder to read, further reducing your chances of getting
help; a great many people won't even try to read such a message. If you
really want help, simply comply with the dictates of common courtesy and
the conventions of the milieu.

I had this problem before, it was a loose connection on the CPU heatsink, which caused the CPU to overheat and caused the computer to hang.
