my dvd drive

hello to all, i have a dvd re-writable dvd drive installed on my machine...
it was working fine a few days ago, but now its not burning to dvd disc...
plus the icon in my computer for the dvd drivr changes from DVD RW Drive (D:)
CD Drive to just plain old CD Drive when I put a DVD disc in... I am using
Nero to burn the DVD's... does any one have any ideas why this is doing this?
Is it a conflict with software?
Any advice is appreciated

Go to Start > Run and type in: devmgmt.msc
and press the Enter key. After the Device Manager
window opens, scroll down to your DVD/CD-ROM
drive, click the "+" to expand, then right-click on
your DVD Drive and select Uninstall. You will
be prompted to reboot your computer, so reboot
and Windows XP will reinstall the DVD Drive.

Hiya, thanks for the suggestion, i tried it but it still does the same
thing... I think the drive doesn't recognise the dvd discs as dvd, as the
autorun gives me the options to burn cd not dvd
any more thoughts are appreciated

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center"
2. Type DVD in the search box, hit enter.
3. Click on "DVD Troubleshooter".
4. You probably need a new DVD decoder or reinstall the one you had.

Perhaps this isn't the problem but isn't there some sort of glitch with XP
where if there's more than one optical drive installed, it sees them all as
standard CD-ROM drives and doesn't show the correct disc in the drive. I
had a similar problem on a previous format of XP but the current setup
doesn't have this problem.

Can you tell me how to resolve this problem? It is a brand new dvd writer
that i have only just installed and was working fine a few days ago
