Good Evening

I use two partitions, one for Windows & programs, the other for data. I
keep all my documents in the data partition. Is there a way for me to
delete the "My Documents" folder the first partition? I try to ignore
it however some programs seem to insist on using that folder.

I feel the same way about "My Network Places", "My Pictures", and "My
Shared Documents"

My concern is about space as I use a digital camera & a web camera and
seem, always, to end up with several copies of the images.

I am using XP Pro SP2

TIA

Bill

Hi there, all you want is easy in this manner.

The 'My Documents' folder, includes My Pictures, My SHared Docs etc.

It is by default located at:
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents

This entire folder can be 'Moved': just right click on My Documents, choose
Properties, then Click on Move.

You could move this to your second partition.

Then move all your documents from their repective location od the D Drive
back into the appropriate folders in My Documents, for convienence. This will
ensure that where applications have a default store location of: C:\Documents
and Settings\User Name\My Documents, they are then placed into the new
location on D Drive, eliminating the current situation where they are on the
C Drive and then copied across to D manually.

Hi Billy,

You can move the current My Documents to folder in the application
partition you created.
Right click on a My Documents icon and select Property - Move.

And to remove the "My Network Places" icon from the Desktop right
clicking on the Desktop and select Properties - Desktop 'tab" -
Customize Desktop and uncheck the "My Network Places" check box.

Again, "Shared documents" is here: (NOT under My Documents)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents

Thank you all so much, I've moved the My documents folder to my data
partition and transferred my files to it and deleted "My Network Places"
from the desktop. I tried to delete the "Shared Documents" folder
however "it" wouldn't let me saying it was a Windows System Folder.

Hi Billy,

It can be hidden from the network:
1. Open My Computer.
2. Right click the Shared Documents folder.
3. Click Sharing and Security.
4. Un-check "Share this folder on the network".
5. Click OK to exit.
