Recently, I have noticed that when I click on My Computer icon, I do not see
My Documents icon. I see Shared Documents. I tried copying My Documents
folder to paste in My Computer but it does not work

How can I show username My Documents shortcuts in My computer folder???

Right click on your desktop, properties, desktop, customize desktop, and
make sure My Documents is checked.

Open My Computer, browse to C, then to Documents and
Settings, the to your name, My Documents folder should be
there, it's generally not on My Computer directly.

You can also put My Documents on your Desktop, by going
to Control Panel/Display/Desktop tab/Customize
Deskyot/check the box My Documents.

It will then display on the desktop.

That simply puts the "my Documents"folder on Desktop. That is not my
objective

I would like to see "My Documents" inside of "My Computer" folder when I
open it up

I have had it appear in "My computer"folder before. Just as I see "Shared
Documents"

You were probably looking at the Desktop portion (top level) of the tree in
Explorer.

Nick is right, normally 'My Docs' folder appears at the top when viewing 'My
Computer.' If you were the Com. Adm., and had multiple users, theirs would
appear there as well. Mine disappears sometimes but I blamed that on the
fact that I have 'My Docs' moved to another volume.

So are there any suggestions to address this. I already checked:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>DocFol
this is set to : C:\Documents and Settings\Nick\My Documents

I also did "regedit" then: regsvr32 /n /i:U shell32

I got these from the basic newsgroup

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Nick, I believe TweakUI can do this. It's under My Computer. Check the
option to show Files Stored on this Computer. That causes the shared
docments folder and the My documents folder to show up under My Computer.

I tried that.
When it is uncheck: The group "Files Stored on this computer" disappears

When Checked: The group "Files Stored on this computer" reappears but only
"Shared Documents"folder is listed. There is no My Documents folder(s)

So What do you think

hmmm..not good. It works ok on my system, XP Pro. Sorry I don't have
anything else to offer, other than check on Kelly's site to see if there
is a reg file to fix it, Thre are several that deal with My Documents
and one on line 55 left side titled "Restore Recent Documents, My
Documents".
