My documents keeps freezing!!!

Greetings all, over the last week the my documents folder on my computer has
started to freeze up, I can open it but then after a minute it just stops.
The mouse still moves but the folder is unusable. I have to ctrl-alt-del and
shut it down and it is beginning to annoy me, do I have to re-install, will
that solve the problem?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
