My desktop keeps disappearing

My desktop disappears whenever there is no activity on it. I at first thought
it was screensaver popping up, but once the desktop icons and taskbar are
gone they do not come back. I cannot even bring up the Windows Task Manager
by pressing Ctrl,Alt and Delete. I have been forced to cold boot.
This is a new computer that I just received two days ago.
Is this a windows problem with settings or is the computer messed up?

Suggest you contact the vendor, it must be under warranty.
