"my computer" icon minimizes

hi all

when i d/click on the above icon, it minimizes straight away to the taskbar
and right clicking on it (restore or maximize) doesnt work. this also
happened once when i was connecting to the internet (the browser minimized
and would not maximize), but that seems to be ok now.

ive run ad-aware, spybot, ms anti-spyware. system: xp pro with all updates,
sp2.

please advise. thanks

Hi Gandalf,

Are you at least able to left-single-click on the iconified (minimized)
portion of the taskbar where it resides and bring it back up to a
de-iconified state?

no, the only activity which works at all is to close the icon/app

After clicking Restore. R-click Taskbar and select Tile or Cascade.

sorry but that doesnt work. i followed your instructions exactly. "close"
remains the only command that works on the minimized "my computer" icon

Does this only do this with Explorer or other applications besides ones
that are Microsoft (besides IE etc.)?
