"my computer has been locked, only an administrator"

Twice I have returned from an extended lunch to find "your computer has been
locked, only .......or an adminstrator, etc.". I can sign in just fine but
all my open programs were closed and unsaved data was lost. (running
timekeeper, etc.)

My office door was locked, no one was able to use "ctrl-alt-del" and choose
"lock my computer". Yes it's on a network, sbs2003, xp pro sp2, remote
access is possible but no one confesses.

What events can cause this condition? Auto updates from MS?

Thanks in advance, Steve

Windows will display that box if the box marked "On resume, password protect"
in the Screensaver tab of Display properties is ticked, although I don't
understand why open programs are closing. Depending on how Group Policy has
been applied you may need to ask your administrator to change that setting.
