My Computer Default view

When I open My Computer, the left side of the screen displays System
Tasks/Other Places/Details. Clicking Folders replaces these with Folders
OK. How can I get it show Folders when I open it in the first place?

What you're trying to accomplish is the same thing as running
Windows Explorer but have it open to My Computer. You need to
create a new shortcut to Explorer. Try the following:

Right click an empty area of your desktop and select New ->
Shortcut.
In the Create Shortcut Wizard, enter the following in the
Location box

%systemroot%\explorer.exe
/e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

Name it whatever you want, something like "Explore My Computer"
would be accurate.
Click Finish.

Take a look at this article for more info:

Good luck

Thank you much - never have been clear on the difference between Explorer
and My Computer.
Not sure I am yet, but your fix did what I wanted to do.

Thx much

Forgot to ask - now that I can open in Explorer, how can I get to open in a
specific folder in the left panel?

Thx again

There is no real difference. They are the same program. They just present a
slightly different view of your computer.
