My Computer and Windows Explorer unexpectedly quit

Does anyone know how to get the hotfix regarding
Knowledge Base article 831938?
"My Computer and Windows Explorer unexpectedly quit when
you try to open My Network Places or Shared Documents in
Windows XP"

This is the exact problem I'm having but good old
microsoft directs you to a pay support sight when you try
to find the hot fix. Do I really have to pay for an
admitted problem with XP?

Thanks,

Mike

Contact Microsoft for the hot fix. You will not have to pay for the hot
fix.

Hi Mike,

No, you really don't. If you read the article, it also notes that charges
are waived in most cases for hotfixes. However, the only way to obtain the
hotfix is to do as the article states and call MS Product Support. You
should not be charged as long as you only ask for the hotfix by article
number, though it does not hurt to remind them of this.
