I bought a western digital WD800JBRTL Hard Drive about
one month ago and had a friend of mind install it. since
then my comp. has been freezing every day even when im
not logged in to the internet. my comp. runs windows xp
and Norton antivirus 2003.
my friend who is supposed to be a graduated expert in
computers hasn't been able to fix the problem so i really
hope somebody can help me out since it is so stressfull
to have your comp. frozen every day.

it freezes about after one hour or sometimes less after i
turn it on

Goto www.wdc.com and dwnload Western Digital's hard drive diagnostics
program
See if there are any errors for the drive.

If that is inconclusive, take the drive out and see if the problems persist.
If yes, you've found the problem. If no, we'll need more information about
the crashes (include any event viewer log errors directly related to the
crashes)

Also take a look at the notification they have about these hard drives not
responding in a RAID environment. I've got to wonder if perhaps they also
have problems in a non-RAID environment.
