my cd rom is not working right..someone please help

Bill

I recently lost the usage of my cd-rw drive. It displays in my computer, but
will not spin or read discs. If I had a game in the drive, it would label
the disc as the game name, now it just says it's an empty drive and even
when I explore the drive, it's labeled as empty. I haven't touched the cd
drive since I purchased the computer until it experienced this error. I have
cleaned the lens, as well as tried the various cd drive fixes located
throughout this forum but to no avail. When I access the error log it states
"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom0." I noticed that
some people said they experienced this issue after installing easy cd
creator. I did install and then uninstall this program recently. How can I
go about fixing this problem? Please help me.

One suggestion. Have you donwloaded "free music" or "free
programs from sites like Kazzaa or Morpheus? If you have
you got what should be considered a virus, it come from
the people who are tired of having their copyrighted
materials stolen. I had it, the only way to get rid of it
is to reformat, and also reformat any other computer that
may be on your network. And PS, nothing is free!

and you... have no idea what you are talking about. There would be no
need to reformat... You would not get a virus by downloading music
files... and a lot of the artists like the idea of "free" music
downloaded. It boosts their concert sales which is where THEY make the
money.

But this is not the place for this discussion, so I'll end it here...
