My CD drive is broken, how can I upgrade to Windows XP using a CD drive over my LAN?
 
I haven't looked into this in a good while, but I'm not at all sure this is
possible.

It definitely will be work--probably more work than it would be to
temporarily substitute a working CDROM drive for your broken one.

I'd ask in a group suffixed SETUP if you can spot one.
 
You can try sharing CD ROM drive on another machine and then connect to that
share, go to i386 directory and run winnt32.exe, winnt32 /? will give you
help.
