My cat screwed up my computer

Dear Anyone:

I was typing an email and my cat stepped on the top left
part of my keyboard which beeped. Now when I try to type
regular letters and words I get something in code. I do
not know if this is encrypting and I don't care.

Can anyone tell me how to get my laptop back to normal?

Sue, can you descripbe the code? Which characters are
being used? Give us a sample of a normal sentence and what
it would come out as on your laptop.
