selected?

it just seems kinda humourous

I SAID MUTE ALL

hey

Mute All tells the sound card to not send anything to the speakers.
But the beep is made by a tiny internal speaker in your computer, not
controlled by the sound card. There may be a setting in your BIOS
setup to turn the speaker off. But bear in mind that the BIOS and
motherboard use the beeps to communicate with you when something very
low-level goes wrong (can't talk to your RAM or video adapter), and
there's no other way to communicate with you.

Far as I know you cannot disable or mute the
system 'beep' speaker, you are muting sound within
windows when you enable mute

BEEP can be disabled in device manager.

wrong answer.

MUTE ALL MEANS MUTE ALL FIX THIS MICROSOFT

Not the wrong answer, it is not a Microsoft problem as Windows has not
started loading at the time of the beeps. This is a function of the bios and
is not controlled by any operating system. Do you hear any beeps after
Windows starts to load? Then it would be a Microsoft problem.
If you want to turn off the speaker, you will need to disable in the bios if
there is a setting to do so, or unplug the speaker wire that connect to the
mother board.

WRONG ANSWER MUTE ALL MEANS MUTE ALL FIX THIS MICROSOFT

Somehow I never noticed the ability to disable the system speaker in device
manage, 8-) but mute all would not have an effect on the system speaker,
mute all controls the sound card and is a completely different function.
Mute all is meant to mute sound when Windows is running, the beeps occur
before Windows loads.
If you want the system speaker turned off, disable it in device manager.

Yeah, I get pissed at Ford when my car runs red lights and
it won't shut the police sirens off.

All I am saying is that I shoudln't need to shut off the pc speaker when I
hit 'Mute All'.

the word 'All' by definition refers to (dictionary.com)

1 Being or representing the entire or total number, amount, or quantity: All
the windows are open. Deal all the cards. See Synonyms at whole.
2 Constituting, being, or representing the total extent or the whole: all
Christendom.
3 Being the utmost possible of: argued the case in all seriousness.
4 Every: got into all manner of trouble.
5 Any whatsoever: beyond all doubt.
6 Pennsylvania. Finished; used up: The apples are all. See Regional Note at
gum band.
7 Informal. Being more than one: Who all came to the party? See Regional
Note at you-all.

it doesn't refer to 'sound thru your soundcard'. it doesn't refer to 'most
of the sound'.

IT SAYS MUTE ALL. I SHOUDN"T NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO CLOSE THIS
BULLSHIT.

I usually just unplug the speaker on desktops-- because Microsoft can't
afford to honor the terms and conditions of the 'mute all' button.

But I was on a lappie and it was pissing me off.
