I am making a slideshow for a wedding rehersal dinner. The sisters of the
bride gave me a couple of different songs that they would like played
throughout the slideshow. However, the slideshow is not long enough to have
the entire song play. How do you use parts of a song, fade at the end when
the slide is changing, etc? Also, I am making the Power Point on my computer
and am going to use a different computer for the presentation. How do I make
sure that the songs are going to work on the other computer? Thanks in
advance!

You can’t fade sound in PowerPoint. You will need to make use of a sound
editor such as Audacity or Sound Forge to do so. Then, you can mix the two
songs and crossfade them.
You can download Audacity here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.
Also, Indezine has an article on how to create fades using sound forge:

To make sure that the sound will play on different computers, you can embed
the sound. Take note that only wav can be embedded. Check this out:
"Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)"
