Music won't play right.

I am making a powerpoint slideshow to show at my October wedding. I
have three different groups of pictures, him, me and the two of us. I
have a different song i want to play to go along with each section. I
have not had much experience with powerpoint and none with adding
music. I fooled around with it for a while and i have gotten the first
song to play perfectly with the first section of pictures, playing
automatically at the begining of the slideshow. When the second
section starts, (separated only by a slide), the second song plays for
about two seconds and then stops. The third section does the same
thing. If I go in to edit the sound objects for the second or third
sections, and choose, from the lower right portion of the screen, to
play the slideshow from that point, both songs plays through perfectly.
Please, please help me o amazing powerpoint masterminds of the world.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Since I cant see your screen this is only a guess!

For each slide (section?) go to slide show > custom animation
Double click the entry for the sound and check the "stop playing" section
It should not be "on click" but either "after current slide" or "after x
slides "depending on how long the "section" is.

Get back if it doesnt work

Stacy,

Let's see if I have this right, you have 3 "sections", for arguments sake
call them slides 1 - 3, slides 4 - 6, and slides 6 - 9.

You start an audio file playing on slide 1 and it plays until slide 3 ends
and then you transition to slide 4 where the next audio file is played. So,
how are you starting the audio on slide 4? I am guessing here that you have
it set to play when the slide opens??? If so what you might try is to set a
small delay on it so slide 4 opens, waits say 1 second (after previous) and
then starts to play.

Try inserting as a transition sound on the relevant slides.

Try changing that to 999 instead of the correct number.

That's exactly right, I'm amazed you understood my uneducated
ramblings. I did have it set to play when the slide opens. I changed
it to do a 1 second delay at the begining of "section 2" and a 2 second
delay at the begining of "section 3" and for section 2 I heard about
one second of the music, and for section 3 I didn't hear any.

Right now I have the three songs I wish to play on a CD only, I can't
get the powerpoint to recognize them just as files on the computer.
They are there, they show up in the box that comes up and asks you
wehre you want to get the sound from, but when i click any of the three
songs, powerpoint gives me an error box that says that can't import
that kind of a file. Right now they are in my itunes folder, I don't
know how to do anything else. I figured I would just burn the finished
powerpoint to the same cd as the three songs and then they would all be
together.

They are on CD, I just answered someone above, about how I can't get
powerpoint to recognize the songs that are on my computer in my itunes
folder, so I burned all three songs onto one cd and am using
that....telling powerpoint to play track one for section one, track two
for section two and track three for section three.

Thank you for all your advice.

You may have a DRM (Digital Rights Management) problem if these came from
ITunes. As an experiment, create a single slide presentation and insert the
songs one at a time and see if they play when the presentation runs.

I have the songs on CD originally, then loaded them onto my itunes,
then burned all three onto one cd.

Yes, If I have a slideshow ten slides long, and put song #2 in it, it
plays fine. Same with #3.

If this is the case, then the problem pretty much has to be in how you have
the animation set up. To go any further I would need to look at the
presentation. You can email it to me, I won't need the music as all I want
to look at is the animation settings.
