multiple problems w/ Vista/Office

1) Int Explorer uses cache screens often, when a newer (fresher info) exists;
how do I get the new info first?

2) MSN History will not work; when I go to close out, "An error occurred
creating the message history filder for "x" (C:\Program Files\MSN\New MSN
History): Access Denied. (I have checked the History box on).

3) Frequently when I send mail, I get "Windows Mail has stopped working;
then: Windows Mail is trying to start again. Sometimes it will start and
send my message but often my message goes into the Outbox. Going into that, I
click on my message and "Windows Mail did not shutdown correctly (the last
time you ran Windows Mail it did not exit correctly. In case this was due to
a problem with the last message you were viewing, the message is not being
shown. To view this message anyway, Click Here.) In clicking "here" Message
Can't Be Found. I then go into my Sent File and sometimes the message is
shown as sent, and other times it's not showing - it's just disappeared and I
have to send it again. I did load a patch that enabled me to delete it from
the Outbox.

I guess that's enough for one 'help message'. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. Not what I expected when I upgraded to Vista and Office
'07!!!

Since this newsgroup deals only with Windows Mail, your first two questions
should be asked in forums dealing with IE and MSN issues, respectively.

Your problems with Windows Mail are likely due to using a non-compatible
antivirus. Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee and Norton
security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Gary - you wrote that Windows Mail is not compatible with Norton or McAfee.
Since I am using Norton, I checked with them, and they assured me that Norton
definitely IS compatible with the new Vista system. Who am I to believe???

They want your money enough to adjust their ideas of what is compatible
with Vista.

Who profits from their own advice, Norton or me?
Hint, it isn't me...
