When using mail and sending messages after hitting send the message(s) sit in
the outbox. I have to go into the outbox and select each message and then
hit send and receive and then have to shut down mail for the message to go.
Can anyone offer any advice.

Also, all my folders seems to disappear from time to time and the only way
to get them back is to shut down.
I have also had problems with ghost emails getting stuck in the outbox but
seem to have resolved this with a download.

I have an issue whereby I read my mail in the inbox and then move it to a
relevant folder. When I revisit the folder I cannot read the email "Message
cannot be displayed" - this happens 75% of the time. Can anyone help me too ?

That type of problem is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
