is it possible to run an operating system on another type of externa
media, or memory device, like a thumb drive or flash card? i'm awar
of partitioning the hard drive in order to run multiple operatin
systems, but i would like to boot and run an OS (2000 or XP) off of something othe
than the hard drive itself. the bios options on the computer onl
allows for a boot up on the cd drive, floppy drive, or hard drive

If you replace the motherboard with one that provides USB boot
capability then you could. I don't believe 2000 or XP could be one of
the operating systems tho.

You can run a bare-bones version of WinXP off a CD - see here:
