multiple openings of task manager

Hi: For some months "Task manager" has multiple ( 10 to 20) openings at the
end of the day when I am trying to shut down "not responding" programs.
There seem to be many more open "task Manger" programs showing in the "Task
Manager" list than "Not responding" boxes I have used.. This is likely a
source of extra load on my computer and contributes to producing "not
responding" programs.

Firefox is my regular browser and my connection is broadband..

Any informed advice on how to stop the many "Task Manager" programs from
opening up!!

Task Manager is taskmgr.exe.

As far as I know, you can only open one instance of Task Manager.

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Do the same for whatever antispyware applications that you have.

Thanks WV: I run CA etrust antvirus updated every 24 hours getting no
finds. I also run the ms anti spyware with no finds. I just ran adaware
with 14 "negligible" objects I quarentined. This is about average for me.
I find no help for this problem on the microsoft site.The multiple task
manager openings bring up "virtual Memory" alerts. I think I can still use
my computer tech support. I run sp2 with most ms updates.

I still question how you can get more than one instance of taskmgr.exe to
run. I cannot.
