Multiple Network addresses: no alternate config tab

Dave

I have a laptop with XP Professional, which needs to be
used in two different locations. Each has a different
network, meaning different TCP/IP addresses for each
location.
When I went to set up the Alternate network address there
was no 'Alternate Configuration' tab when I got to the
TCP/IP Properties. According the the MS sites I've looked
at there is supposed to be one there.

How can I get this?

I've looked at the installation CD to see if it offers it
as an added extra, but no joy.

The Alternate Configuration tab only appears when the primary
configuration is "Obtain an IP address automatically". It doesn't
appear if the primary configuration is "Use the following IP address".

Its purpose is to provide an alternate, static configuration for use
when there's no DHCP server available to assign a dynamic
configuration. It can't be used to assign two different static
configurations.

If you need two different static configurations, set up the first one
as the primary configuration, click Advanced, click "Add" under "IP
addresses", and set up the second one. The two configurations can
co-exist.
