DHCP and Alternate IP Configuration.

i've a laptop that moves between two locations, the first is a domain environment and uses dhcp, the second is a workgroup that uses static IP addressing.
every time the user moves between the two locations i must regonfigure the ip settings to be able to work on each network.
i tried to use the alternate ip configuration in the TCP/IP prperties as the static ip address, the main ip configuration is set to obtain ip address automatically. i stoped the dhcp service to test the laptop but it wont take the alternate ip configuration...what can i do to solve the problem?!!!

MultiNetwork Manager 7 from www.globesoft.com
is the tool you need if you move your laptop between
networks

The only solutions I've seen posted here involve using a
third-party. Anyone from Microsoft got any explanation of
why it doesn't work? Do you have any idea?

Why did you stop the DHCP service? The alternate configuration only
happens after an attempt to get an IP address form DHCP has failed.

Start the DHCP service and see if the alternate configuration works.
