multiple login choices

Not sure how to describe this. I am a noob at networking. The last tech
set
each comp in our network up so when the login screen (WinXP Pro) you
have a
choice to either login to the local machine or to the server. He never
did t
his to an outlying station of ours. There are two machines there not
done. W
e use a VPN between the station and the server.
How is this done? Tech is not being real reliable to work with lately.
He is
an outsourced provider.

Based on the information provided, I would assume you have a Windows
domain set up on your network, and the local computers have been joined
to that domain. The remote pc's have not been joined to the domain.

You should have a button that says advance, click on it to bring the logon
to dialog just like in the other boxes.
Also, I am not completely sure about this since I haven't seen a PC in a
workgroup in about 3 years, but you might not have the option in a
workgroup, only in domains. You can check if the pc is part of workgroup or
domain by going to system properties (control panel, or right click my
computer>properties) and select the computer name tab.
Finaly, you can also enter the domain that you are login on the username
field, so for example computer_name\username for local login or
domain_name\username for domain login (or username@domain_name)
